• National Institute of Sports Science (NISS) is the premier institute of sports education in Sri Lanka. It was established under the provisions of the sports law No. 25, 1973 and named “Sports School" with its inauguration in 1978 under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Sports. It was reorganized in 1996 under the provisions of an Act of Parliament, which amended the original sports law and renamed as the National Institute of Sports Science.

  • Three CAP programmes are ready for Judo, Netball and Athletics Coaches

    Coaches Accreditation Programmes  (CAP) in order to update the knowledge of Judo, Netball and Athletics Coaches will be held at NISS on the following days. This will be the first renewal of coaches registration for the Judo and Netball Coaches while second renewal of coaches registration for the Athletics Coaches under Sports Reengineering Project.

    Applicants who wish to follow the course should download the specimen application and detail from the website www.niss.gov.lk and Selection will be based on the marks acquired in the walking interview which will be held from 08.30 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. on 19.12.2017 at the National Institute of Sports Science, 100/7, Independence Avenue, Colombo 07.
