- National Institute of Sports Science (NISS) is the premier institute of sports education in Sri Lanka. It was established under the provisions of the sports law No. 25, 1973 and named “Sports School" with its inauguration in 1978 under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Sports. It was reorganized in 1996 under the provisions of an Act of Parliament, which amended the original sports law and renamed as the National Institute of Sports Science.
